The expected increase in the volume of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects, driven by the entry of new investors and the growth of natural gas production in Brazil, mainly as a result of the Novo Mercado de Gás program, led Toyo Setal to participate in the Gastech 2019 Exhibition & Conference, considered the world’s leading event in the sector.

Held annually in different countries, this year’s Gastech took place from September 17 to 19 in Houston, Texas, the birthplace of the oil and gas market. Among the exhibitors were some of the most innovative and influential service and technology providers in the oil and gas supply chain, attracting more than 35,000 visitors.

Expansion outlook

According to the conference director, Jenny Kelly, the global natural gas market is expected to grow at more than double the pace of oil and coal markets. In Brazil, growth is also expected. “The forecast is to double gas production over the next 10 years, reaching approximately 100 million cubic meters per day. Investments in gas transportation and processing infrastructure are expected to boost demand for EPC projects in the country. That is why we decided to participate in Gastech this year,” explained Commercial Manager Rafael Ribeiro de Mendonça Lima, who traveled to Texas along with Toyo Setal’s President, Dorian Luis Valeriano Zen, and Project Manager, Laureano Oliveira.

At Gastech, Toyo Setal’s executives learned about new EPC-related technologies that could be applied in Brazil and established connections with companies from various segments of the oil and gas value chain. “We had meetings with executives from major international oil companies interested in Brazil’s E&P (exploration and production) market, as well as gas transportation and processing infrastructure, therefore potential clients for Toyo Setal,” stated Rafael.

Since the exhibition was held in the United States this year, Toyo Setal’s directors also highlighted the strong presence of U.S. gas liquefaction terminals dedicated to the export of gas produced in the country.

“Our presence at the event was very valuable for building new relationships with companies interested in investing in the Brazilian market. Many of them are already requesting quotes here,” summarized Rafael.
